According to Happy Days by Gwen Silvey it operated as a guest house from 1921 - 1942 under consecutive proprietors: Mrs. Jess, Mrs. P. Hayes, J.C. Clayton, Mrs. Ross. In March 1920 when owned by Mrs. A. Carden it was severely damaged by fire but eventually saved after a heroic battle by the Katoomba Fire Brigade. I have many happy memories of Katoomba and it was a very popular spot with at least three generations of my family - my mother and her mother and aunt. I can't read all of this now but I will be coming back to read it in detail. Thanks so much!Alex Dawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05083753053051713061noreply@blogger.com
